Car parking - car hire in Hong Kong

Do not even think of car parking- car hire in Hong Kong. Even locals typically do not own their own car, and for a tourist to hire a car they should expect to pay around $700 a day for a small sedan. Busy narrow streets, and congested main roads make it impossible for nonresidents to drive. Car parking is at an absolute minimum and near impossible to find. Most residents of Hong Kong get around on a bicycle and tourists familiar with the city will do themselves a favor by following suit. If a bicycle is not an acceptable method for you using Hong Kong's efficient and cheap public transit system is an excellent alternative. A combination of trains, trams, subways, buses, and taxis cover nearly all of the city; and many of these transportation methods are paid for under the umbrella of the octopus card system. The octopus card is a prepaid smart card that allows users to load it with money and then quickly and conveniently pay for public transportation. Additionally the octopus card can be used at many convenience stores and fast food restaurants such as McDonald's.
