This museum seeks to bring public awareness about Chinese art and culture. It showcases the glories of one of the most culturally rich civilizations of the world.

The art museum within the Chinese University of Hong Kong is located in Shatin. The permanent collections include Chinese painting, calligraphy, ceramics and other decorative arts. There are also research collections of bronze seals, jade flowers, Cantonese paintings and calligraphy.

The Art Museum, an integral unit of the Institute of Chinese Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong serves the university community and the Hong Kong SAR by collecting, preserving, researching and exhibiting a wide range of artifacts illuminating the rich arts, humanities, and cultural heritage of ancient and pre- modern China.

Since it has thrown open its doors in 1971, the museum has actively promoted the rich cultural heritage of China and facilated the exchange of ideas between China and the west. Four to five special exhibitions are held annually, featuring art and antiquities from museums in China and overseas as well as from local collections.
