This museum is one of the largest in the city of Hong Kong. It is reminiscent of Chinese palaces of yore. The museum houses 12 exhibition galleries, built around open courtyards which seem to take you back in time.

These galleries present the rich cultural heritage of Chinese art and culture. It also showcases contemporary Chinese art.
Galleries are dedicated to the history and culture of the New Territories, Cantonese opera, Chinese culture and contemporary Hong Kong art and design. It offers a variety of exhibitions which not only pleases your senses but also enlightens you on the history of the nation.

There are six permanent exhibition galleries for the display of the museum's collections and six thematic galleries for temporary exhibitions. With a seating capacity of 400, the multipurpose theatre is a sophisticated venue for Cantonese opera, musical performances, lectures, seminars, ceremonies and multimedia presentations.

Its gift shops are a veritable treasure house. It boasts of a variety of cultural and art books, periodicals, paintings, CDs and other gift items.
