Mai Po is a bird watcher's paradise. You can observe winged wonders with their glorious plumage reveling in the park. It is a marshland situated at the edge of Deep Bay. Besides the 270 or more species of birds, there are also different species of flora and fauna growing there.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) manages the nature reserve and organizes regular three- hour tours on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

In recent years, over 60,000 water birds have wintered in and around the Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay Ramsar Site, including endangered species such as Saunders' Gull and a quarter of the world's population of the Black- faced Spoonbill. During the spring and summer season millions of migratory birds flock to the Mai Po area to rejuvenate themselves after a tiring flight.

Admission: Guided tour: HKD70 per person (must be five years and older). Binoculars are available for hire at HKD20 per pair per visit. Due to the popularity of the tours, visitors are advised to book up to three months in advance.

Hours: Call WWF for tour times or for special access.
