Hong Kong’s Bun Festival

The Cheung Chau Da Jiu Festival in Hong Kong is the largest and most popular of the Da Jiu festivals held all over China every year.  It is held on the eighth day of the fourth moon of the Chinese calendar, supposedly around May, and coincides with Buddha’s birthday celebration.  The highlight of this festival is the scramble up the bun mountain, which is made of bamboo scaffolding and covered with buns.

Hong Kong’s Double Fifth Festival

The Duanwu Festival, more popularly known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is held on the fifth day of the fifth moon of every year, approximately in June.  It is also commonly called the Double Fifth Festival.  Dragon boat races and other contests are the highlight of this festival.
